This is a large, heavy hide. However it's really sturdy and feels of good quality. I use it for my bearded dragon when he is outside in his outdoor enclosure. He loves to bask on top of it, and I like that it also provides some refuge from the sun if he'd like some shade.

It came broken but I always see UPS purposely dropping my boxes on the ground. He doesn't know I have an alarm and see him every time. No fault on Amazon. I super glued it back together. I paid less that $8 for this on sale and that price is worth it. It's EXACTLY what I wanted. Not sure how it will hold up to the weather out by my frog pond but not sure it's even made for the outdoors but at that price it's worth trying. Gordy the toad hasn't tried it out yet to give his honest opinion.

Arrived quickly. Although, one of the corners on the wider end was broken off, it was an approx 1”x0.5” triangular piece. Unfortunately, the broken piece was not in the box so could not be glued back on. I didn’t feel like sending it back, so am still using it.I bought the medium size. Definitely narrower than I expected. Fits length wise on the shorter end of my 10 gallon, with approx 1.5” space between the hide and the glass, when pushed against the back glass. I got this to use with my Chilean Rose Hair Tarantula (approx 4.5”-5” leg span). If she really wanted to she could probably fit inside, but I’m not really sure how comfortable it would be. I had hoped she could use the hole in the side to enter this hide, but again it’s too small. I ended up partially burying it on the broken side in the substrate, so it still had an overhang. I created a bigger hiding space using fake plants on top of it and to the side of it. Ultimately it works for I needed, but disappointed it came broken.

For 75% off I couldn’t resist buying this despite the flip-floppy reviews. All in all, I came out with a great product! I’m getting a baby gecko, so it will be plenty big enough for it to get through the bigger hole. I’m not sure about when it gets older though, but by then, I’m hoping to move bioactive. For now though, it looks great!! No jagged ends or chips anywhere, and no issues after soaking it to clean. I have yet to get a gecko as I still need more things for the terrarium but I’ll try and update how things go!

This is going to work, however, I had to modify it to work for my reptile set up. Let me start off by saying that this entire piece is very rough, with a few sharp areas and it is pretty heavy. I read all the revies before purchasing this item, so I pretty much got what I expected. Here is what I found: There is a hole in the top nub of the log, the sides of that hole are VERY jagged and sharp. I took black aquarium silicone and closed off the hole so that my snake would not attempt to crawl through it and get hurt/stuck. Then I took sandpaper and had to sand around the large hole you see in the display photo. There were so many jagged and sharp pieces, it could be dangerous for a reptile (or fish that could get caught on it). Overall I think this a good piece if you dont mind sanding away the sharp edges. The roughness will prove to be handy when my snake wants to rub against something while she is in shed. The dimensions listed in the description ( 11.1 x 4.8 x 5.5 inches) dont match up to what I got, mine measures 10" x 5" x 3 1/2" (5 being the widest part of the bottom on the larger side but it tapers off to about 3 inches in the middle to top) the hole on the side is about 3" and the smaller end of the log is about 3 3/4" at its widest and only 2 1/4" tall. Anyhow, I will be purchasing another one for my other snake enclosure. It is a nice decorative piece and once modified will work just fine. **Note** The BP I am using this for is small. Only 1 1/2 feet long and 979 grams.

These logs look almost real! They are ceramic so they are heavy enough to sink and stay in water if you want them in a fish tank. Large enough for mid sized land crabs to take cover and small enough to fit in a 10 to 20 gallon tank. I am very happy with my orders which were on a huge sale!!! Plus if they break they are easy to superglue back together. Id buy an entire case if I could.

Toads like to hang out under my water spigot which unfortunately is just a few feet away from the pet door and I got tired of finding dead toads .so, I made that area as safe as possible by blocking it off from the dogs with a garden fence and toad safe plants. I also added amphibian soil. I haven't seen them using these faux log shelters but I'm sure they will. I noticed it takes them a good week to get accustomed to anything new in their area.Update: Toads are loving their faux log shelters. Almost every day I see one in it.
