Creality K1 Upgraded Extruder – A Worthy Upgrade
I’ve had two Creality K1 printers, and after using the K1 Upgraded Extruder on both, I can confidently say it’s a solid improvement over the stock setup. If you’re running into inconsistent extrusion, filament grinding, or just want better performance, this upgrade is worth considering.Installation is pretty straightforward—it’s essentially a drop-in replacement for the original extruder, and Creality includes everything you need. Once installed, the difference is noticeable. Filament grip is stronger, reducing under-extrusion issues, and retractions feel snappier, which helps cut down on stringing. It also handles flexibles and abrasive filaments better than the stock unit, making the K1 more versatile. One of the best things about this upgrade is its increased durability. The stock extruder on the K1 works fine for standard filaments, but it tends to wear out quicker, especially with higher-speed printing. This upgraded version holds up better over time, giving you more consistent prints without needing constant adjustments. If you’re pushing your K1 to its limits or just want a more reliable, hassle-free extruder, this is a must-have upgrade. I’ve got them on both of my K1s, and they’ve made a noticeable difference in print quality and reliability. Definitely worth the upgrade!

It does the job
I started a print one day on my K1 and came back to find what appeared to be a colossal dinosaur poo wrapped around the extruder, housing and everything. I guess the filament somehow went sideways and it was a nightmare. Using a heat gun, I was able to carefully remove the clump of filament and damaged extruder parts.Once this extruder arrived, I removed the old one. ***Note, carefully place your screws someplace safe because they tend to jump and land in very dark places*** Installed this one and bam, back in business. No issues since.I'm not very nerdy about 3D printing parts and accessories but this thing does the job.

Exactly what I needed!
Product is as stated. I can confirm when it says you may need to keep an older faceplate from the older model K1 series, it is telling you the truth. Quick swap and snapped it in the printer. It's now working like a dream again.

First Layer Line Problem SOLVED!
My Creality k1 has been working flawlessly for months, and all of a sudden not one print would come out correct. The biggest problem was my printer was skipping groups of layers throughout the print, most noticeably on the first few layers. I first replaced the hot end thinking it may have been that. That didn't solve the problem. I then remembered that creality has had ALOT of problems with their hotends and extruders in their early models of the k1, so decided to try this. Just holding the two in both hands i could tell it was going to solve the problem, and it did! My printer is back up and ripping at full speed without any problems. If you're having layer problems and find out you have an older version of the extruder i would put money on this solving the problem.

Don't buy this unless you are a masochist who likes burning money on poor quality replacement parts.
Godawful product, printer and company, talking directly to Creality specifically, just to be super clear, and the K1C 3D printer. There is an inordinate amount of time spent diagnosing and fixing this model, since first purchasing around 1 year ago. Most of the issues revolve around the extruder and associated gear box. This NEW GEARBOX lasted less than 1 month, didn't even get a full 1kg of filament through it before the gears stripped out catastrophically at the interface with the motor ... you know, plastic gears + metal gears, super well thought out by the Company's planned obsolescence team, they seem to be the only ones doing their job. I was expecting at least a little more life out of the new unit, like one full reel would have been nice. This was a replacement for the original gear box that came with the purchase, like-for-like, where the original lasted around 1 year, approximately 5-7kg of filament in total. So, to compare, they both suck, the the "new" replacement sucks about 10x harder. Add in the song and dance associated with disassembling the extruder, fan shroud, and delicately removing the power interconnections each and every time you need to diagnose / replace / repair ... this can turn into a multi-step repeating nightmare that burns your time in the most frustrating way imaginable. Furthermore, I had to completely replace the mother board on the unit after it "bricked", that is, stopped working completely, after the approximate ~1year of operational use ... the new motherboard is holding up (so far). Topping it all off is a horrible slicing UI (prone to crashing regularly), horrible Company support / technical guidance (most everything I've found useful comes from other frustrated users who have found work-arounds on all of these issues. In conclusion to this rant, sorry for the negativity, but if you made it this far ... bottom line ...This is a garbage product, made by a garbage company and I will never buy anything by Creality ever again (outside of trying to get this unit up and running again, it prints good if you work around all the crapola that is put in your way). Also to quality my sassiness, I'm an electrical engineer with around 20 years of experience regularly constructing, deconstructing, programming, and modifying small electronic components and associated motors, controllers, and logic... I've tried and succeeded in making things work, over, and over, and over, and over, and over ... super disappointed
