Very good for the price and better than the C425
I bought this as a second camera in addition to my Tapo C425 and in my opinion, it‘s better than the C425 for the comparable aspects.Connectivity is very good and responsive is fast. The C425 lags and sometimes looses connection. I must add that both cameras are at the same location just 2 meters apart. The WiFi mesh AP (also TP-Link) is just 20 meters away. The night vision (infrared) gives also a better image than the C425.In general, although both have 2K UHD, IMO, the 520ws has the better image quality.Besides, the 520ws has some features the 425 doesn‘t but could have. For example the option to switch to color view in night upon detection and back to IR afterward. The only drawback with the 520ws is the missing internal battery. That‘s why I have a 425 at the same location for backup in case of power outtage. At the end, I like the 520ws as it has good connectivity, the image quality is good (could be better) and the 360 pan/tilt head with auto tracking works well. Installation was super easy too.

Works with Blue Iris and other 3rd party apps.
While Tapo/TP-Link would like you to subscribe to their cloud storage service, it is not required. Installing the Tapo phone app is required for setup, however if you already use the Kasa app for other TP-Link smart devices you can sigh into the Tapo app using your TP-Link ID. If you wish to use Blue Iris or other 3rd party apps there is a choice in the setup menu to allow this. My Android app, IP Cam Viewer Pro, found the correct ports automatically. I used that information to facilitate the setup in Blue Iris. After specifying port 2020 for ONVIF, I clicked the Find button and Blue Iris did the rest.If you don't use surveillance software the camera has ample built-in features for motion detection, alarms, notifications, and the choice of cloud or SD card storage. If you still use some old & less secure cameras, this is a great upgrade.

Great camera!!
Amazing, I’m using it for indoors. Great quality, picture is also great but gets a little blurry when you zoom in but not big deal for what I’m using it for. No issues with WiFi no lags, app is extremely responsive as far as the notifications goes. The built in alarm is meh not as loud as I expected but I do not need it. Motion detection is great also. Just wish they had a 4k version I would have purchased that instead. Also the SD card option is definitely a plus no bogus subscriptions that’s another reason a replaced my ring indoor camera with TP link. Night vision is also amazing. Overall great camera all around. Definitely recommend.

A great value, but with some issues...
Great value for money. Install was tricky, I kept getting "unstable network" despite being 5 ft from a commercial grade router on a fiber connection. Reinstall was successful without changing a thing?? Was able to successfully format my 256gb Samsung Pro Endurance card in camera. Afterwards installed in my outdoor location using an outdoor flat plug 16 gage extension cord as the AC adapter is not designed to fit USA outdoor plug boxes (this is an unbelievably stupid miss). After powering up, system failed after about 15 minutes with no wifi or access to the microsd card. Pulled the plug for a couple minutes, restarted, it's been bulletproof since. My theory: delve into the setup menu and find the power grid setting, if you are in the USA, change it from Auto to 60 Hertz. I suspect it was on 50 Hertz as the 30 fps was not available to select, it appears for 60 Hertz power only.App is easy to use, and I love, love, love the ability to exclude everyone but people in the detection setup, and it works flawless! Gone are the many false detections, so much so, that I felt confident turning the siren feature on between 11pm and 6 am, another nice capability. Not using motion tracking as my yard is small, so no opinion, but glad there is an off option.Slightly disappointed in image quality, but at this price point optics are likely where money is saved, so not really a complaint. Even with camera set to always recording at 2k QHD, 30 fps, it looks like I am going to get close to two weeks of video history. Way more than I was expecting, and no monthly cloud storage payments.Maybe not as durable as some units, we will see, but an almost unbelievably good value.

The best quality so far
I'm impressed with the quality day and night. During the day they are all good. Night is what makes the difference between these cheap cameras. I will attach two pictures at night with light on and only infrared. The controls are very easy to work with. This is the fifth manufacturer that I try and the best so farcat night. During the day is cristal clear. I'll buy 2 more.

Great little camera.
Great little camera. I used these to replace Wyze cameras after they tried to make me pay a monthly fee to use certain features. The Tapo is really easy to setup and has a great app. I have not found a way to view the cameras on my computer is the only downside I have found.

Incredible $40 camera!
You can't beat it for the price. The features actually work. It streams the picture really well. I even turned up the picture quality all the way, and it just keeps surprising me. Now, it's a $40 camera, so don't expect a high dollar camera, and you will be extremely happy with it.
