Can be installed with a couple trips to Lowe's!
I bought the DR-1100HP for my 16x32 (about 17k gallon) in ground pool in February. It was delivered a couple weeks later and we were swimming when it was still pretty cold outside. I like to do a lot of research, and while I wasn't 100% sure about this heat pump, I'm happy with the purchase. Our local pool shop was going to charge $5k, excluding electrical, for the install of a 95K btu Hayward. I decided to go with this larger unit that had wifi capabilities instead. I always go over stability over unneeded features, but this has been a cool feature, the wife asking "Hey, how warm is the pool?" when we are away from the home.It seems people's idea of "warm" varies greatly, as well. Everything I had read led me to believe I would be happy jumping into an 81 degree pool. Nope. I need mine 90 plus! It takes DAYS to get to temperature, but maintains it well once it's there. You'll probably want to invest in a solar heater as well, to trap the warm in over night. We did, and it made a big difference.Regarding the installation, I had to upgrade my main panel's breaker, the wiring to the sub panel, and the breakers in the sub panel. That was a chore, but I got it done. Actual hookup to the sub panel was a cinch.I did verify with Dr. Heater that the unit has a sensor to only run when there is water output from the pump. It doesn't say that in the instructions, but I wrote them an email and they called me and verified that yes, it does has that sensor. This made the electrical hookup easier, as I didn't have to hook up a relay switch. The insides looked great, see photos. Value for money, It can't be beat based on what I looked at. It's a beast size wise. Make sure you have room. Would buy again!

Excellent heat pump and Customer service support
I did extensive research in preparation for heating my in-ground pool. Once I determined that I wanted to install a heat pump, I looked at several different manufactures. Based on my research I decided I wanted to purchase my heat pump from "DR. INFRARED". So, I reached out to their customer service department (They were fantastic). We had several discussions, and I provided them with all the information they needed to determine the correct size heat pump so that I would be able to maintain my pools water temperature. Based on the information I provided them, they recommended I purchase their **DR. DR infrared heater so quiet the installer thought it was not working!
Our current heat pump pool heater needed replacing after 10 years of use. We were disappointed to find that the technology of our old heater had not improved in the 10 years since we first purchased it. We wanted an energy efficient heater. After researching other pool heaters, we decided on DR. INFRARED HEATER DR-1400HP Full DC Inverter 140,000 BTU Heat Pump. We ordered it from Amazon and it arrived within a week in perfect condition. A local pool supplier installed it. It works perfectly. The installer had never seen a DR infrared heater before. In fact, when the installer turned on the heater, it was so quiet that they looked at each other and said “It’s not working”. Finally one of them held their hand over the top of the heater and exclaimed “It’s cold!” They were shocked to find that it was working so efficiently and quiet. It has been working perfectly since we installed it one month ago. We highly recommend DR. INFRARED HEATER DR-1400HP Full DC Inverter 140,000 BTU Heat Pump.

All time BEST investment for our pool!
This pool heater is a straight up MIRACLE. We are in Oregon and installed the unit in late February. It heated the hot tob portion of the pool from 52 degrees to 102 in 3 hours. Just last week ( May) we heated the whole 30,000 gallon pool with outside lows in the mid 40s to highs in the mid 60's and were SWIMMING in 80 Degree water in 48 hours. That's amazing for MAY in OREGON. Unit is quiet, well built, and easy to use. Definitely will not miss paying insane prices for propane!!

Great Inverter Pool Heat Pump Heater that's saving us a lot of $
We are trying to build a fully solar + battery powered home... so we knew we wanted to ditch our natural gas pool heater for a heat pump model. We decided on the Dr. Infrared DR-00HP because it is a variable inverter system that is as efficient as possible.Even in the winter, we can heat our 580 gallon hot tub from 57F to 100F in about 6 hours and uses 20kWh of energy. A non heat pump model would be 61kWh of energy so that's a COP of 3 in the winter.in the summer i've seen it above 4, on warmer days. Obviously, if you're in a rush to heat the pool, a natural gas heater can't be beat, heating that same hot tub in about 1 hour, but now with solar, we can heat the pool and hot tub and do it for free!So if you want to go low carbon, and save money, solar plus pool heat pump is an awesome choice. We were spending about $300 per month on natural gas for the pool, and now that is entirely removed.Depending on your electricity rates, vs natural gas rates, it can be worth it even if you don't have solar. The system also produces water that we run into our gray water system, to water our plants!Had it for over a year, and it works incredibly well, and we highly recommend! They also have a larger 140,000 BTU model if you want even faster heating.works well with our existing Pentair automation system, and was a breeze to install. Don't forget about the water drain, as it can produce quite a bit of water. You can just have it flow out to plants or down a drain.
