Works great for EDC or the range.

Whenever i bring out my snubby, i always use this thing. The release mechanism is different; its a press rather than screw motion, but otherwise its very similar.Have not had any issues with it yet. Really helps cut down reloading time at the range.Only issue is that you need to get used to it. Just as an example, i have an old model 38, and the loader barely has enough clearance.

Talk about speed and convenience at the range!!!!

I love this set up. Before heading to the range I am able to fill the case and the loader to have 45 rounds at the ready. I am using the loader in a J frame S&W where the drum does not open far enough to fully slip the loader. The ability to “push release” the rounds allows me to center the rounds and release them into the drum so gravity feeds them in. It took a few tries to get it right but once you get the hang of it it’s super quick and easy. Truly a time saver if you do not enjoy feeding round after a round into a revolver. Love it and recommend it!

Fantastic J-frame speed loader!

Of all the speed loaders I've tried, this is my favorite. Fantastic design that retains the cartridges well and dumps them into the cylinder easily. Took about 30 seconds to feel proficient at using it to reload my S&W J-frame revolver. Another great feature I didn't see mentioned in product description is that the plastic cover can be installed once the cartridges are loaded into the device which protects them and makes it easier to carry a full reload. I will buy another, and I wish they made the same device for L-frame revolvers, I'd buy that too if they did.

caution on grip obstruction

will not work with any of my S&W 5 shot as they have custom and/or pachmayr grips. Work fine on older issue/factory grips. Did alter one so loader will pass into cylinder ok, will just have to keep it associated with that particular revolver.

Required a lot of modifying to get to work.

This is not a very good design. I don't know how this passed their testing phase. Problem 1. There are rings molded into the lid that secure on the back of the round to to prevent them from rattling around. Works with 38 Special but the lid won't close with .357 rounds because they're too tall. Problem 2. .38 rounds sit too deep, too low. A speed loader cannot lock in the rounds because it can't reach the rim of the cartridge. A speed loader will work with .357 because they're taller and can reach the rim. But now you can't close the lid because of the rings I mentioned earlier. So, you can't use it with .38 or .357 effectively. To make this work, I had to cut the rings off the lid and then drop SS 4mm thick spacers used in jewelry making into each hole. This raised the height of each bullet to where the speed loader could catch the 38 rim and I could close the lid with .357 with the rings on the lid removed. A lot of work to get this to work.

Case is nice and convenient however the speedloader does not line up well with Ruger LCR 38 special

Round spacing does not work well with Ruger LCR 38 special. The rounds don't even go an 1/8the of the distance in the cylinders thereby making the speed loader release difficult to operate. You have to jiggle the loader to get the rounds to drop and since they are only 1/8th or so in the cylinders, they tend to fall out.The case is nice and being able to store the rounds in this manner for quick speed loader refills is nice. However it does not work well with the revolver we have.

Best speed loader for a J-Frame

The media could not be loaded. Smith & Wesson J-Frames are not the easiest to speed load. The cylinder does not swing out far enough for a speed loader to have a straight shot at the cylinder. So, you have to come in at an angle to clear the grips and cylinder release. And there is a good chance the loader will get hung up on those or the rounds will wedge in the chambers. Virtually every speed loader for a J-Frame explains how to release the rounds facing down before they are seated, and hope gravity will finish the job.Every other speed loader I have seen uses a twist of a knob to release the rounds from the loader which does NOT guarantee the rounds will be seated. This Ludex speed loader releases the rounds by pressing an extension on the back of the loader instead of turning a knob. That means a single motion will start the rounds in the chambers and either force the loader past the grips and cylinder release and release the rounds OR release the rounds and let gravity take its course. When in a hurry you don't want to be doing multiple steps (starting rounds in cylinder, pushing and then twisting a knob and knowing when to do each.Watch the video. One smooth motion regardless of circumstances.
