Excellent optics
This is an excellent pair of binoculars! The compass works without a battery! Just have some light on the window at the top of the electronic compass and it works great. The light from daylight or an electric bulb, anything, will make it bright enough for the compass to view the compass. I have no idea how it can work without a battery. The batteries are only for nighttime viewing of the compass. The optics are sharp and crystal clear with lots of light gathering. These are not real night vision! 50mm lenses pull in the light. I think these are great for ASTRONOMY. They have a tripod connection too. A great price. What I like most is that from about 20 yards out to infinity there is no need to focus. It is all clear. You can focus closer when you want to see closer. For example where a bb hit a target from 10 yards away, you would need to focus to see that, but for anything 20 yards out to infinity, no need to focus once you have it dialed in. This is a good value for the money, and the case and eye piece covers are fine, I like the strap. You won't lose it with a yellow strap, or just don't use the strap if you don't like the color. The weight is not light, pretty solid feel. 396 feet at 1000 yards is excellent field of view. Tough to beat. Or just pay 4 times the price and get something else comparable..

The batteries might not be dead...... These are REALLY NICE!!!!!!
Shipping was fast, USCAMEL added a nice Thank You card and these are awesome Binoculars with a nice secure case. The floating feature might be in the neck floats (in yellow) of the carry straps (played with those for awhile till figured out how I wanted them to work for quick adjustment (a personal thing, no diss on the product - not only do the optic covers stay attached, but the front cover does too if you 'string it right so ALL lens covers stay attached!) but like the clarity of the compass and numbered range numbers vs others (was going to say low end products but THESE are NICE). For compass hold them level (no comment on accuracy), haven't had them long enough to play with range finding but found the book instructions adequate FOR METRIC (great for many but my mind - Add 1 yd per 10 meters and you're ballpark). These are not POCKET binoculars and not intended to be, but they are REALLY NICE. NOTE - until I took the battery cover off and emptied the batteries (then put them back in) the night 'button' didn't work.... was going to send a friendly EM but likely there is a 'battery shield' (some plastic thing) that was in place I dislodged and ALL IS GOOD! FYI, like flashlights, scopes, other 'stuff' with batteries you don't use often put a piece of paper or something you can easily remove under the outside terminal and you won't get battery bleed. Won't keep the batteries from doing what they do but helps. I'd buy from USCAMEL again!!

Pros: Housing is rugged. Optics are clear. Individual dioptric adjustments. Compass (with night viewing switch).Range finder reticle is clearly visible after setting up the eye adjustments. Compass easy to view with the press of the button turning on the red illumination.Range calculator slide.Cons: Range finder reticle is in "mils" not standard meters or yards.

Great value
I got these after looking at a list of top 10 range finding binoculars and these made the list smack dab in the middle of 1500 dollar binoculars. Granted I'm not an expert and only have experience with my Tasco brand and other cheap ones. But these are amazing. 10 power vs the 7 I had before. No need to focus on anything within reason. Each eye is adjustable to balance vision but can be used to cheat the focus for real close or real far away. My batteries are dead for the compass straight out of the box but I don't care. During the day the sun light illuminates the compass. I mostly got these for their range finding capabilites. I wish there were more graduations. Each hash is 5 mils and each number is 10. But they will suffice for my purpose. They have a built in scale which is essentially useless in my opinion for anything small. It seems more geared towards buildings or ships than coyotes and deer. This can be alleviated with a mil dot master however. Nice carry case, lense caps, nice neck strap and cleaning cloth all included. Great bang for the the buck for what I would consider an entry level purchase.

Great optics!
These binoculars have really nice clarity and very good power (magnification). The compass is really nice, especially when boating. The backlight for the compass is marginal, but how often are you going to be shooting a bearing at night using these? We have two pair, so you can tell the person you're with, "look over at 135 degrees, there's dolphins there." I haven't dropped them in the water, but no reason to doubt the seal. Image clarity all the way to the edges is the take away here. Very nice glass for a very reasonable price (half what West Marine wants for similar).
