Gnat infestation. THOUSANDS!!! Comparison of products tested..
Ended up with a Gnat infestation the likes of which I've never seen before. Literally thousands, enough that it sounded like a wasps nest in the room. I suspect this was due to removing the plant beds outside and leaving the window open overnight so they 'relocated'. It looked like something out of a demonic horror movie. So I tried..1. Slowly stepping away and shutting the door. They were still there in the morning, plastered all over the ceiling and the more lively of the bunch swarming above the window line so leaving the window open and asking them to vacate did absolutely nothing.2. C&G Home and Garden Insect and Spider Spray. Smells nice I guess, is organic, it dazed a few of them before they got back up again and continued the party. The smell is still there a week later, bit sick of it now tbh. Smells a bit like when you visit a house to buy and the owner went OTT with the plugin air fresheners.3. The buzz fly catcher - outdoor use only. In times of need thought I'd give it a go indoors, screw what the instructions tell me to do, .. did absolutely nothing. As an aside thought maybe it does really need to be outside to work so I placed it, and the spare, in the garden and it continued to do absolutely nothing other than catch 2 or 3 bugs, that weren't even flies..4. Whaline Sticky Fly Traps. Comes in yellow squares, and some shaped ones too so the kids can have some fun killing things, can't remember what the shapes are, probably not fly shaped otherwise that'd be a bit much, also come with some sticks to place in the garden for those with better knees than me. Surprisingly(!) actually pretty good. Zero toxicity, Zero smell, but out of thousands of gnats a few of those squares only actually caught perhaps a few dozen in a couple of days and these things were breeding faster than a council estate.5. Haimist Pesticide free fly paper. Genuinely terrible, so terrible may as well stop reading about this one. Caught zero gnats in the room of terror. Placed a few in the kitchen where house flies were intimidating myself and each other and all they did was fly around it. Notably the flies also ignored the Whaline's too. They're sticky as all hell though, trying to bin them is near impossible, you WILL waste a bin bag attempting to get rid of one, better thrown on a bonfire, better yet... don't buy them.6. Rentokil Insectrol. Killed them dead, literally within seconds, end of story. I'd started in the corner and backed away until I got out through the door whilst holding my breath, this was my last resort. As I was backing away I could see them falling to the floor, some remainers stayed on the ceiling but they were just as dead. A dyson took care of the rest and now it looks like I'd hoovered up an eccles cake. Slight downside other than probably killing wildlife for thousands of miles is that it coats the walls in noticeably shiny patches, after a few days this went away for most part, I'd have to look hard to find where I'd gone a touch overboard. So yeh that's my experience, wasted £35 trying to be kind to environment and brutal to my wallet, whereas £5 rentokil obliterated my problem before I'd even closed the door.In order of ratingsRentokil Insectrol : 10/10Whaline Traps: 6/10Everything else: 0NB. Probably better reviews to be had.

Effective but Uses the Whole Can
This worked great during the summer in my single garage. It got rid of a lot of small bugs hiding in gaps, killed a few beetles, and even repelled other insects like spiders. The only downside is that one single garage uses up the whole can. Definitely handy, but keep that in mind!

Kills the spiders you don't see
I had a nasty shock this week when I opened the attic door and a dead spider landed on my head. Then I found another further up in the attic. The previous week I had sprayed all the corners of the ceilings, and any gaps where webs might be. My daughter is terrified of spiders. So I sprayed proactively. To be clear, I saw no spiders at the time of spraying. Then a week later, I found 2 dead full size spiders in unusual locations all curled up. This spray doesn't kill instantly as I can see from where they crawled to, but if you are smart to find where the critters live and spray, they will surely die. Just be aware they will attempt to move away from where you sprayed. I'm going to do this on routine, maybe once every 2 months.

Not Humane on Larger Bugs
So this stuff does what it’s supposed to do, but I feel like (as it says in the description), it’s designed to kill much smaller bugs and insects. I used it on a nest of baby spiders in our bathroom and it killed them absolutely instantly, with zero signs of life afterwards. So for smaller insects like ants etc... 5 stars.Larger insects like spiders on the other hand... not so much. I feel the dosage of the poison isn’t high enough and so it causes them to suffer and die slowly. They’re still able to run around unless you completely drench them with the stuff until they’re stuck to the ground unable to move (which I where I suspect many of these “it killed a large spider instantly” reviews come from, unless these people got a different product to me), but unless you completely drown them in the stuff (and sometimes even if you do) they kinda run and stumble around and then start convulsing and it’s all very traumatic. I sprayed one of those spindly ones that hang out in corners the other day with a good dose and it took him minutes to die, all the while he was still attempting to run around and escape.I’ve even had ones that I thought were completely dead that I’ve then sprayed again to make sure and they’ve started wiggling around again (whether it’s just a nervous system reaction or whether they are still alive, it still ain’t nice) so take all these “instant” reviews with a pinch of salt.I understand that this is poison, and no poison really truly works instantly, and this I s how the poison works (It affects their nervous system and causes extreme excitability followed by convulsions and seizures and paralysis and ultimately coma/death), but it’s not nice to see.I’m writing this fresh from the experience of spraying a medium sized spider with a hearty amount of this, only to watch him die a slow and drawn out death. No Bueno.I dislike spiders and try to avoid killing them where possible, but when I do have to kill them (such as them being in a non-catchable location), I’d rather I had a product that killed them quickly rather than watch them slowly die. Stick to smaller bugs with this stuff.

It's a fly.
The bug killer is really good. I had a really really bad fruit flie infestation they was everywhere. I tired for months to get rid of them and killed 1000s but they kept coming back. I was mega fed up because I was not eating as the flies put me off. So I decided to try this bug killer, and damn it did kill them. I sprayed all upstairs in my house using 2 bottles and got rid of the rubbish that built up in my spare room since I broke my ankle. And today I have only seen 1 flying around. I checked if it really did work and put vinegar and washing liquid in a plastic container and left it in my room and only three was in the container, tried it again and non was in the container.
