Great product (if you have a compatible opener), even better customer service
We purchased this garage/gate opener for our electric gate. If we weren't persistent, we would've given the product a 2-3 star, but with some effort it is easily a 5 star, and if I could give their customer service 10 stars I would. By far the best customer service I've had on a product purchased from Amazon.Install: We actually went 3 variations of the product to get one to work. It was very easy to install, the package had a link to their website with clear instructions and pictures, with an easy to use compatibility finder. We hard wired the device to our gate opener and it took about 15 minutes once we figured out what terminals to use. Remootio support was extremely responsive by email (once getting back to me within 1-2 hours of my inquiry; just note they are in the UK). The first one was a dud (which honestly was probably user error), the second one worked flawlessly for 2 days. Then nothing. We contacted customer service again, and finally after a series of back and forth, they recalled that the Remootio 2 actually couldn't be hardwired into the control board - the power source must be external (should've known since we didn't receive an appropriate cord for hardwiring, and had to strip the end of the USB cord). Realizing their error, we received an updated device that did come with the appropriate cord (the Remootio 3). Again, easy to install and has worked beautifully since.Product: It's a great device and app. Much more affordable than many of the other products we would have needed to control our gate with our phone. Also one of the only products on Amazon we found that can be used for either a garage or gate opener. The app interface is really easy to use. It does take a few seconds when you open the app to connect to the gate before you can open/close it, it's a minor inconvenience. We love that we can easily send our friends and family keys, change whether we/they use bluetooth or internet to open it, set time intervals for them to be active. We did install the sensor with notifications as well, which is accurate 90% of the time, here and there we get a random alert that our gate is open and have to look out the window to make sure it's actually closed. Likely the sensors are just close enough and a little bit of movement in the cord or gate triggers the magnet connection.Like I said, great product, even better customer service. We're very happy with our purchase!

I am handy, and this was WAY too complicated
To start, there are multiple sets of instructions for this product: One in/on the box, one at the QR code that comes with it, and then some online based on the type of opener you have. Each of these 3 varies. I have a very common garage door (craftsman) and am quite technically savvy. I am the one who fixes my family's computer/printer issues, have set up outdoor lighting systems, wifi systems, Ring.com products, and all kinds of other similar things. This has terrible instructions. Perhaps this should only be sold wholesale to non-consumers...I first called Amazon support, which this product has, and they said that the product has great tech support, so since my question was somewhat specific, they advised that I should contact them. Fine. Why even offer Amazon Tech support tho? Next, I did then reach out to the company. But fun times ahead: Their tech support is ONLY available by email. So I spent time documenting what I had done, the type of garage door I had etc. I included photos too. They got back to me a full day later (mind you my garage was now non-functional) with some generic things to try (some of which I'd already done and noted to them) that didn't work. I spent more time re-trying those things, then documenting what I did and emailing back. Their suggestions were not super clear- sometimes using non-consumer-friendly lingo. Examples:"Furthermore, the photo beam may not be connected which could cause the door malfunctions."" Manual control button; You can connect a manual control button or a doorbell button to terminal 5 of the Remootio board. (The inputs are polarity independent, which means that within the same input terminal, the order of the wires does not matter). Make sure that when you enable the manual control, you choose the correct input (1 or 2). "HUH???Each time we corresponded, I had to wait another full 24 hours (or slightly longer) to hear back again with the same kind of non-helpful info. I tried one more round (going on 3 days now) and then gave up-- uninstalled it all and packed it up for return. What a waste of time-- I spent a lot of time setting up and trouble shooting via email. Save yourself the headache.
