**Edit #2**After my last edit (and changing my 5 star review to 1) I was finally reached out to by another customer service employee. A replacement was sent to me and is working great (we'll see for how many months).**Edit**I've had this sharpener for about 5-6 months and it has stopped working. The SmartStop feature is triggered as soon as a pencil is put inside, so nothing gets sharpened. I contacted their customer support and explained what was happening. I was emailed troubleshooting about having the machine turn on, that is not my issue. I sent a response but have heard nothing back 20 days later.****The SmartStop feature is great! In the past I've had problems with sharpeners eating away pencils when students shove them in. There has also been no issue of points being broken mid-sharpening. Our pencils are now lasting a lot longer! The large shavings bin is nice that you can let it be for a long time.I will say that it gets pencils crazy sharp, our coloring pencils are stored in cups and I've switched to having the pencils bottoms-up to avoid all the pokes when grabbing a certain color.

This is THE BEST pencil sharpener I've ever had. I've been an elementary school teacher for 12 years and I get so frustrated with the burnout rate of pencil sharpeners, or how they just don't get the pencils sharp sharp. I've already gotten 3 more of these for various purposes because not only is it the best, it's a great price for a heavy duty pencil sharpener. I have never allowed colored pencils in my electric sharpeners before this year, and now I'm not afraid to let the kids get their colored pencils nice and sharp because even if it burns out in a year, the price is unbeatable. I love how it stops when it's as sharp as it's going to get with a blue light indicator. It's as loud or quiet as any other pencil sharpener. The ONLY problem is the shavings tray does not stay put. So it slowly vibrates out of place as you sharpen and the sharpener will not work without it fully in place for safety. So I just put tape on the sides, problem solved. If you have a classroom, buy this. You won't be disappointed!

I have been wanting to find a better pencell sharpener for a long time. Last year I bought and sent one back because the auto stop didn't work. This sharpener stops every time with a really good point.

As a teacher this is my all time favorite pencil sharpener! In a classroom, it can be a major distraction if the pencil sharpener doesn’t work or takes too long to sharpen pencils. This one works quickly and gives kids a blue light to let them know when the pencil is sharpened. My first one lasted for over 4 years, which is a long time for a middle school classroom!

After less than an hour's use and about a dozen pencils sharpened, this sharpener ceased to work. Amazon will not take it back and I am having to contact the manufacturer who is not open on the weekends. I've had to fill out a form online since I could not get a hold of a real person over the phone. The form would not let me proceed unless I put in the date the sharpener was manufactured...which appears nowhere on the machine or packaging so I had to make up a date, which forces me to essentially lie. I am very dissatisfied with Amazon for not standing by what they sell, and the lack of availability of the manufacturer. Meanwhile, I have a second grade class using handheld pencil sharpeners in the weeks before testing!

Very nice pencil sharpener used in my class, but unfortunately it broke. Not sure what happened. Would love another one at a discount please somebody contact me.

A teacher friend had this on her back to school Amazon list, and so when my cheap pencil sharpener stopped working, I bought this bad boy. Oh man, I wasn’t expecting what came in the mail. I homeschool, and my kids looooove art. We have hundreds of colored pencils that are always dull. And my kids seem to constantly complain that they can’t find a regular pencil that is sharp. Well, that is no longer a problem. This sharpener has power behind it, think, “power tools power.” My 5 year old and I spent about 15 minutes straight sharpening our pencil stash, and this thing didn’t overheat or quit. It has an awesome set of lights which tell you when to take the pencil out (so my kids won’t sharpen a single pencil down to a nub for no reason). The shavings container is enormous so it won’t have to be continually emptied. And it also has suction cups for the feet so it doesn’t move around when you are sharpening.Seriously, if you homeschool, cyber school, or you or your kids just love art and use a lot of pencils, this sharpener is a great thing to have on hand. I’m so glad I spent a little extra $ on this one because I think it will likely be the last pencil sharpener I will ever buy.
