Colavita Italian Diced Tomatoes, Recart Box, 13.76 Ounce

Full disclosure: I bought these for reasons other than flavor. One was because of the box. I was getting tired of trying to figure out how to store cans of tomatoes in my awkwardly-sized cupboard. The other was because of the low sodium content.Anyway, I opened the first box to add to an improvised skillet dish with black beans and chopped onions. They were perfect for it. I think I have a new must-buy to add to my list.

I have used these for years and love them in both crushed and diced varieties. No salt or additives, no metal can leaching from the acid. Boxes that are ecological and Roma tomatoes from Italy that are unbelievably delicious. It's a deal every way you look at it.

Great for all my recipes or even just on its own

The tomatoes are more slushy than “diced” but they’re tasty tomatoes and I prefer this container because I have trouble with opening cans that don’t have the flip key top. The different brands of cans on Amazon don’t indicate the type of top.

These are the best diced tomatoes I've ever used, and non-can packaging is a big plus. Perfect for anything that calls for tomatoes or sauce. I've used them for chili, casserole, and pasta/pizza sauces. I like the small chunks, but the one time I made a smooth sauce, it took only a few seconds with a stick blender, and I had a good puree to work with -- no thickening with paste was needed.

I wanted to try these to see if they're actually better than canned tomatoes and they absolutely are. They have more flavor and I've now purchased several times. They're well worth the extra money.

I bought on sale but they are really good. I like the package better than in a can. I usually get Muir Glen, but these are good too depending on the price.
