Has anyone had physical activity on the frame, not just sleeping?

is the elite worth the extra money over the regular?
I have several storage bins. What is the actual clearance under the bed. Is it a full 14"? (My tubs are 13 3/4 " tall. Will they fit?)

Safe Bed Frame For Plus Sized Person

Finally after years of dealing with bed frames promising to support "big and tall" people, I have found one that is ACTUALLY for big and tall people. My last bed frame advertised to hold up to 1000 pounds but failed in just under three months with one 400-pound person. It collapsed while I was sleeping and injured me. I decided to try this frame after seeing some recs online from other plus size people. So far I am very happy with this bed frame. Setup on this frame was SO FAST AND EASY. It took me longer to take it out of the box than to set it up. I have slept on it for about a week and can tell it is STRONG. I just stood up on it to dust the wall behind my headboard and it made absolutely no squeaks and did not wiggle a centimeter. I feel SAFE with this bed frame and peace of mind is everything while trying to get a good nights rest. Will update my review if anything changes!

It’s OK

It’s a cool frame. I like it only thing I don’t like about it is the mattress moves on it kinda like slips if it had an edge to it would’ve been better to keep the mattress someplace.

MAY be worth its weight in gold.

First, the delivery. No notice that they were coming or that it was delivered. I bought two queen 14 Inch Elite SmartBase Mattress Foundations. These are the extra sturdy (extra heavy) model. I found them in the morning, one of the boxes fell across the door. I live in a four family and two of them frequently need to call paramedics. Also, HUGH safety issue IF there was a fire!!!!! After getting the door open. I managed to get one inside to the first landing (I live on the 2nd floor) and decided to quit because I'd either have a heart attack or hurt my back. I am a 61 yr old female, btw.....not playing the age card but I am in no way muscular. I prayed the one I left outside would be there when I got home after work. So that was NOT good. But the frame itself is FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Second, the setup. NO BRAINER!!! It was a SNAP! However, I have a queen size Purple mattress. This is more of an issue with the mattress than the frame but if you have one of these types of mattresses you may need help. I didn't have any. These mattresses do not have handles and they are kind of like limp noodles (yeah, a hundred pound noodle) in that you cannot just shove it up against a wall and it will stay there. Nope. I sat on it so it would stay folded over and out of the way while I screwed the wing nuts. Then I pulled the frame close to me and the Purple........I slid around to the other side and the purple sort of flopped on the edge of the frame. Then I was able to pull it across. Whew!I want to mention that I had a traditional box spring that I kept from my old mattress to use with the Purple which I bought this past summer. I was shocked to find that it was made with strips of pine wood, CARDBOARD and then a very thin piece of foam and fabric. I only know this because my cat ripped off the black fabric that was stapled to the bottom. I will never waste money on a box spring again! My bed was not exactly squeaking but it made a sort of creaking noise when I rolled over etc. Now I know why. But not with this new frame!!! No noise at all. It is a tad bit slippery BUT I don't think that will be an issue when I am sleeping. I do have a mattress protector on the mattress...the kind that is like an envelope and zips up. IT is kind of slippery. However, I will need to be able to slide it a bit when changing the sheets as I have a tight corner to deal with and the frame does not have wheels. (that's the only thing I wish it had, that and just a few more inches of height).Third, the storage, oh the storage!!!!! Glorious storage! Yes, is about 12 inches between the bottom of the frame and the floor. But there is PLENTY of storage. I read one review of someone sort of complaining that there is a "channel" and yes there is but that's not an issue for me. I have some shorter boxes that I used with the box spring set up and they slide right under. I have a three piece soft luggage set that fits inside each other and it slid right under (it used to be in the closet). I am now LOOKING for stuff to stick under there! My closets were crammed......open the door and something will fall out crammed. So all this rearranging has helped me get organized and so far have taken of a TON of stuff to Goodwill. So all in all, great product. I bought the sturdier one as the mattress is already a hundred pounds and I didn't want any issues with the bars bending. It is solid as a ROCK. I highly recommend it!

Sturdy, Durable, No Creaking

I love it so far, feels sturdy. It doesn't creak or bend. Easy to put together too, I managed to get it complete by myself with no real help. Id recommend this if you just need a sturdy bed frame and you don't care about style/looks as much. It's perfect for someone like myself.

A solid 8 years of use

Almost 8 yearsThis frame lasted 8 years and three houses. It still standing but not as tall or strong anymore. The plastic stoppers on the feet wore out very early on and scratched up my wood floors.

The "Big and Tall" 14 inch frame

Ok, I hope this review can help someone that was like me. There are a lot of reviews that are for the Zinus brand bed base but for different models. This review is for the Zinus 14 inch Elite Smart base "Big and Tall". You can see each base model on the product description and compare them. With that being said, do not get it mixed with the 18 inch or other 14 inch models. This model is for the "Big and Tall" and it's added feature is extra stability and weight limit of 4,000 lbs. Now, my wife and I are not big and tall at all, lol. We are actually not even close to that, but I wanted the extra stability in the frame after reviewing other customer reviews showing how the frame began to bend on them. Look at the product pictures and you will see that on the Big and Tall frame there are extra thick beams throughout the frame, whereas the other frames have more of a wire going throughout the inside. Other reviews have showed those wires bending on people. I didn't want any chance of that happening, so I chose to go with the more thicker beamed framed. I'm glad I did because this frame is a tank solid. I've only had it for a couple of weeks now, but I am VERY - VERY PLEASED with my purchase. Time will tell if any squeaks will start, but right now absolutely quiet. No squeaks at all.Now the big topic everyone is concerned about, the storage space under the frame. This frame has at least 12 inch in height storage space. You might be able to squeeze a little more than that but you might have difficulty pulling out your container. I've included a photo with a 12 inch high tote under the frame. When I was in search of a base, I really wanted the 18 inch high Zinus frame, but I was concerned of the stability of the frame. From other reviews showing of the wired typed of frame has bent for others, I was also concerned with going 4 inches higher on the frame legs on 18 inch will make ghe frame less stable. I assume the higher you go, the less stable the legs are on the frame. I don't know if that is true, but the 14 inch frame with the solid bars throughout is very stable and still comes with excellent space under the bed. You can go 12 inches high and be safe, and you have the entire rest of the bed space for storage. My wife put together the frame and mattress HERSELF while I was at work. I guess she couldn't wait but she did an awesome job and it's not difficult. My entire king size bed came in 2 boxes from Amazon. The frame and mattress. We are using a "Classic Brands 14 inch Cool Gel Memory Foam" king size mattress that we couldn't be more pleased of. These two items together are a match made in heaven, lol. Although we will be putting some flat plywood between frame and mattress just to give more of a flat surface for the memory foam. I don't know if it's necessary because when I look under the bed, I don't see any substantial sagging. It looks fine, but I just want to be safe.At the end of the day, the frame is awesome and a great idea. Very sturdy, quiet, easy to put together and easy to move around. I am very pleased with my purchase and I highly recommend it.
