Q: How do i know if the uv light is working?

You must not look at the light when it is on,but when it's dark I can see it glowing though a gap between the house and unit.It takes about a week to clear the pond water on average.Ive used this system for over 20 years now and have always had clear water & my fish have breed every year but 1 in all that time.

Dear mrs nagi . You will be able to see iluminated green at the inlet and outlet points when it is dark . If its not the bulb is not working . Mine took about four days before i noticed a difference so be patient and enjoy your pond and the wildlife it attracts .graham

No, as long as you have a pump operating a external filter, this can go in-between the pipe from the pump outlet to to the filter inlet.
