The Chicago Manual of Style, 18th Edition

The CMOS style guide needs no review. This is one of the bibles for any serious writer.

Business Writing, Marketing and PR Writing, Evidence based writing, Professional composition are included in this book. As a former English Lit major (switched to Econ), this book helped me understand the fundamentals of general writing, and creative expression. If you want to further improve your composition then please consider buying this book. Yes, it's pricey, and yes, you're likely to hurt your wallet but at the cost of getting a higher understanding.

Do I really need to write a review of CMS? Maybe all I need to say is: why do stylists keep re-inventing the wheel?

Edit: I am updating my review as Amazon replaced my damaged book and the new one arrived in pristine condition.I'm not a professional writer or editor, but I do use the Chicago Manual when writing technical documentation at work. I am one of those really weird people that sleeps with the 17th edition by their bedside. I've had the 18th edition on preorder since it first became available, and I've been looking forward to getting it for some time now.I can't wait for updated tabs to come out for the 18th edition, as my only complaint about the book is that it doesn't come with a ribbon bookmark. A book this size that is used for reference really should, but that's a minor gripe that doesn't detract from the actual content.I'm extremely happy with my purchase, and look forward to this new edition replacing the old one by my bed :POld Review:I'm not usually one to complain about a book cover, but I agree with the other reviewer here. The cover on my copy arrived more damaged than theirs did, and that's not okay for a book that costs as much as this one does.

If anyone is planning to write, edit, or proofread; please be aware this is an essential investment to have. This manual doesn’t leave out anything. If you make the investment, get the tabs ( it will make your life easier).
