That it does great.
Lidocaine is a very helpful assist in relieving pain. NOTE I found using with,icy-hot,and or Voltarin combined really increases pain reduction/or eliminates for awhile. I use black disposable gloves, every time. Really don't want that mess all over your hands. As a medic in Vietnam,I used a lot. So 53 yrs. off & on. In the military, we had it in liquid form. I give 9 stars. P.S. thru Amazon, you can get the strongest percentage of (5%) without a Dr's script.

Tattoo Removal
Purchased this for my 3rd laser tattoo removal session. 1st session I iced 5 min and it was borderline unbearable. 2nd session I took Meloxicam and iced longer…it was torture. I knew I probably wouldn’t tolerate a 3rd without something to take the edge off. I was hesitant because some people found lidocaine helpful and others didn’t. I’m SOOOOO happy I purchased this. 3rd session was spicy, but way more tolerable than the first two. I didn’t take any breaks and cruised right through it. It doesn’t take the pain away, but probably brought my pain level down from a 10 to a 6.

Can be used off label for
I use Welmate Lidocaine 5% as topical pain cream for a torn rotator cuff in addition to Physical Therapy. It has a very light, non-offensive scent. It is not sticky and hasn’t stained or marked clothing. It works for me.

The lid CAN be opened, see review. This is for topical and temporary use, Read label or review
The product has the right viscosity, and you don't need but a dab go cover a substantial area. The foil seal under the lid had enough sticking to it to cover the body, so rather than waste it I drug it over the jar lip face down to put all but a thin layer back in the jar. As others described, this was very hard to open, brute force and nonslip gloves were no help! My difficulty was that the lid was already down, and being all the way down made it impossible. Pull the lid up so that there is about a 1/8 th inch gap between the lid and the base. Work with that a bit and you will see that it does turn back an forth. The point now is NOT to press it all the way down, you already found out how that goes. With it up move it down slightly, leaving a gap between the lid and the lower jar body. Now toy with it a bit until you find the up/down sweet spot where it does un-thread [counter-clockwise] and come off. Once you remove the foil, the opening will be easier. Don't try to put the foil back or fold it over. You will find that with the foil gone in goes on and off without a lot of effort. You do want to turn it clockwise threading it back on until you feel it seat (seal). The Lidocane can evaporate, and likely so can the creme it's suspended in, so you do want to close it.Wash your hands after applying, you don't want to rub your eye, or take a pill with that lotion transferring off your hand. Lidocane is toxic, don't get it in eyes or mouth, it's topical (external only, and avoid private parts). Don't apply too much wherever you use it or apply it to a large area. If you get any rash, wash it off. This is not for repeated use. If your issue persists call your doctor. IMPORTANT: I'm NOT a doctor I'm just another untrained user. so talk with your doctor if they didn't prescribe this with instructions. Call a poison control hot line if anything other than a localized numbness occurs where you applied it, or for any other symptom. The Mayo and Cleveland Clinics have helpful info, so does the FDA.

This is a great product.
This is great numbing cream to use if you are on Dialysis. Everybody is different. But it takes about anywhere from one to two hours to work that has been at least my experience.

Only barely numbs the skin - look for something else.
Does not numb very well. I leave it on my skin for 2 hours under cellophane and I can still feel my injections. I used a different cream before called numbz and it really worked to numb my skin, but this stuff does not work the same at all.
