Worked great for a year
I’ve been using the Mi Band 8 for a year now and it’s been great—does everything I need and the battery life is solid. The back did come off recently, but honestly, for the price, I can’t really complain. Still good value overall.

Xiaomi..why pay more ?
Had a mi-band 4 from Xiaomi.Band broke after a few years.Looking for a replacement band came across the mi-band 8.So bought that instead of new wristband for the mi-band 4 (sub £40 for the mi-band 8 at time of purchase ...bargain )These just seem to improve year after year, but some incarnations are not such a big difference to be worth the upgradeBut from a 4 to the 8...major improvements & a no brainer for meVery easy to read new screenOld one just black on white, offered me what I needed, but the 8 is just better & clearer all roundlove the screen size & colourful displays .Testetd against old band (which I'd worn at hospital for a heart check & THAT Matched the expensive NHS equipment beat for beat )And the two of if them matched up in heartbeats &Spo2.New on this one, apart from al else being bigger & better, was a stress monitorUseful & seems close to how I feel when tested .Charged other day from 25% to 89% while I washed myself (15 mins )Matches up easily by Bluetooth to my phone every time (Redmi)Occasionally older one would need a try or two.Not tested many of the activities, trying to get over a nasty accident, so mobility limited. But for me, what this does it does well .It's a big improvement on my old version.Crisper clearer display .Older one had the use of zepp & another app to monitor results, that I quite liked. This is just accessible via the official mi app for it .It's not lacking anything, just that I'd prefer a choice of apps if possible. But overall, the 8's been a glowing success hereVery happy with my purchase

Nice product but limited documentation
As a very low cost fitness tracker its good value. Only time will tell if it carries on working but so far so good. The android app works without any problems once I had it configured ( unlike some other trackers! )However the lack of documentation is the reason for the four star rating. The enclosed user manual is 103 pages long BUT only two are in English and those mainly detail safety information. The help web site isn't easy to use when I had minor issue getting out of a sub-menu which it had got stuck in.

Perfect for my kids
I get these Xiaomi smartwatches for my kids, they are solid (they resits a 5yo) and tend to be discreet. They pair with my phone via Bluetooth very easily and you can manage multiple aspect of the watch and its features through the app. They seem accurate for sleep and activity that's the main feature we use. Overall value for money!

Why pay more?
So, I have just come from using an Apple Watch Series 7 to using this and I’m honestly blown away by how much this watch does at around a tenth of what my Apple Watch cost! My main issues were the poor battery life of the Apple Watch and it just not tracking my sleep and not receiving notifications etc. I have tattoos so this is going to be a problem no matter what smart watch I use, but so far, the Xiaomi has been tracking my sleep no problem and accurately, notifications coming through every time and the battery life is fantastic! I’m still on 81% after 3 days. My Apple Watch died in around 2 days with many of the features disabled. This does everything I need, works well, has a nice vivid display with many choices of watch faces and never needing to worry about the battery dying. It does lack things like NFC but for the cost, you are getting a lot for your money. Very easy to set up via the app as well. I will say I’m not using this for fitness, the only thing I pay attention to is my steps, so I can’t vouch for the accuracy of fitness features but it seems to be pretty accurate with my steps and my heart rate. The calories seem to be way off, though, so if you’re looking for a dedicated fitness tracker you’d probably be better off looking for a Fitbit or something similar.

Hmmm
So I've had it over a month. I'll mention now, I an not the most technical person ( though previously had no issues with my fitbit)A lot of the things it says it'll do, I can't get it to do, heartrate etc.I put it on a timer for a particular exercise, which it does, but then I can't get it back to previous mode. So an hour after finishing swimming, it's still toting up lengths. Previously I've had to disconnect it from devices, which has worked but lost data. This time I can't get it to reconnect. So far I've done 82 lengths in the swimming pool (as if ), and I'd quite like to h;t it with a hammer.Would I buy it again, noAgain I'll state I'm not the most technical of persons, but even so, nothing should be this difficult. I could have got advise from their technical support, if they had any.I wouldn't recommend
