Does not work like described, doesn’t cut tape, tape winds up long pieces sticking to everything

Works perfectly
This is a great tool for wrapping gifts. It works one-handed and the length of tape is dependent on how much you need. One squeeze (and release) gives you 3.5 centimeters of tape but you can get more by just laying it on the paper and rolling it across the seam while still holding the lever. To cut the tape, release the lever on the handle. It's that simple.
