Works well, quiet and drains constantly into the floor drain- a winner!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:After two GE dehumidifiers both died within 6 months I started researching new devices that did Not have a pump and instead offered gravity drainage. The Cube is versatile and easy to set up- BUT VERY HEAVY! It arrives in a small box and well packed but it’s significant weight for older or infirm people. Has a great carry handle on both the powered unit and the bucket as well as optional casters (included) to roll the device around on its bucket. It has multiple options for use: 1: bucket mode where the water collects in the bottom bucket to be emptied, bucketless mode (a special mode to just run the power unit in a small space and drain straight into a drain or sink, and my chosen mode: the constant drainage, using the bucket for height but keeping the hose connected to the floor drain below. For me it keeps the unit above to allow gravity to do its job. I’ve had the dehumidifier for 24 hours now and the basement humidity is already 10% below what 2 GE units could do so I’m impressed. The unit is quiet (sounds like a fan) and has no smell to it, size is slightly more square than previous units but again very heavy. There is not a pump in this unit- so this review only covers the gravity draining dehumidifier. So far so good- really like the product, the big win will be if it lasts longer than 2-3 month unlike my other GE models.

Wow this thing works really fast. And my photo shows how I avoid excessive dripping when emptying.
Pulled it out of the box 4 hours ago and I've already knocked humidity down from 70 to 39% on my whole main level. Putting it in the basement overnight now, it's at 80 right now so should be a big improvement by morning. Also I did see a lot of people frustrated with getting everything wet when you pull it off to empty tank. Seems to me like you can just pick it up and rotate it slightly so it sits on top of the tank and let it drip for a bit before you pull it off and empty it. I also tilted the unit one certain direction for just a few seconds and it kind of pissed a good little amount for a second, so maybe give it a tilt real quick and then set it down on top to finish dripping. But yeah so far so good, this thing works really well and really fast.

This new style has not been an improvement upon design for me
just the thing I was trying not to have happen happened...which is worse than moisture condensation... this unit overflowed on me and made a 3 foot by 3 foot wet spot in my wall to wall carpet...I wish i wold have not trusted it and put a mason pan underneath it just for safety sake and so I could quickly see that the unit was leaking into the pan and not onto my carpet and the floor under neath the carpet.... (I looked at this and thought "its mold city now" better get the wet vac and suck as much as I can up) the bucket has a float mechanism that has cheap plastic clips which popped out and caused the float not to operate correctly... it has 3 holes on the side of the bucket that will allow for overflow out of the bucket before the water can back up into the electrical and mechanical part of the unit... there is no real way to tell if the float is working until it shuts off... the even with a flash light you can not really tell what the water level is because the sight glass is translucent. there are a few more things like the arrows that mark which way the unit fits into the collection bucket and they are not on top and not easy to see when you have the heavy unit in your hand so I had to use a marker and mark the bucket and the unit with arrows on the top and on the side that you can really see.... this might make it not look as nice but sure helps when you have that heavy cube in your hand and are holding it and placing it back into the bucket after manually draining....there are a few more things to consider that were troublesome to me about the unit so I will update... I wish i would have just bought one that has the tank and the float in it which is on the side I have used right now I am checking out an Insignia 450 sqft with auto shut off that has the kind of tank and auto shut off which is common with most and will not accidentally flood the floor becuse there are no overflow holes and mechanisms that snap in just a float that is not as easy to become stuck or not functinal becuase this is the old design.... here is the model number I am checking out.... Model: NS-DH50WH1

Initial first few hours of use:Set up was easy. Have one with pump feature-make sure read all instructions as there are places where it mentions “bucket-less” mode needs to be turned off to put in pump mode.No tools needed to assemble. It is compact I feel for the 4500 sq ft rating. Many features and options of using -more than other dehumidifiers I have owned. Really are four distinct ways to set up to drain water: Bucket,( can regulate how full to fill bucket before emptying), bucket-less draining, Gravity hose draining, and pump draining ( 14’ height). Handles on top unit and bottom bucket are comfortable and sturdy. Casters installed in 1 minute-no tools required.1800+ sq ft top level of ranch, dropped humidity level 10% less than an hour. This unit is very quiet compared to others I have had-and I have run it only on continuous mode so far, ( instructions say to do this first 24 hrs).App unable to comment on since I had to do a reset, on my I-phone and it is not allowing access to app store .I am encouraged by the mention of how to service unit- I know strange. The others humidifiers owned have all broken down after just out of warranty coverage due to freon leaks out. And none of them mentioned a service center or even if they could be recharged/repaired. None of them even had a low side freon recharge port -you had to buy a kit and buy very expensive freon to attempt it yourself-as no local HVAC shop would perform work. I don’t know if this one can recharged or not-just encouraging it mentions repairs in manual. Also, make sure whatever dehumidifier you get its not using the older style freon type. If it is make sure it will accept, if needed, the newer types freon industry is transitioning to. It may be on sale for a reason. So far so good, this unity is no louder than a floor fan on high- possibly quieter.I would buy again as long as it proves to be reliable in the long term.
