Q: Will a 2 1/4 hp router be sufficient for this bit?

I used this bit in a 1.5 hp Porter Cable 690 series router on an old, very hard air dried slab of cherry. It was slow going and I wished my router had more power. I took very shallow cuts (about 1/16") and lapped my cuts by less than 1/2 of the bits diameter. As it was a very large slab, the bit gummed and dulled and I had to clean it and touch it up with a diamond hone before I was finished. I'm sure 2 1/4 hp would have improved things considerably as would a softer species of wood. This bit is very usable for flattening, but patience is required.

Q: What is the recommended rpm for this bit??

The rule of thumb is to keep the outside edge of the bit below 100mph, but figuring that out requires some math. So consulting a chart tells me that a 2" diameter should be run at about 16,000 to 18,000 RPM.

Yes, just be careful with death of cut and transverse speed.
