Another Brief and Accurate Management Book from Harvard
A good short basic book for new supervisors and managers (and for experienced managers who never learned the basics).

Good Basic Overview
Another in the HBR series that covers a complex topic from the "what you need to know level". If you are a new manager this is the place to start your education.

Not that great
I didn't find this book that great. $9 is not worth for this small book with very little valuable content.

Easy to read, concise and straight to the point
I found this book easy to read and short (less than 200 pages). While it offered nothing new or ground breaking, I felt this book was a good use of my time (less than 2 hours). The new manager is inclined to make improvements as soon as he/she takes over managing a team.A new manager will often fall into traps of being a new management: They may feel insecure, focus on the wrong areas to improve, or fall back to their the "mode" of operating as an individual contributor. This book gives you a step by step, from obtaining feedback from your direct reports to help assess you management style to strengthening yourself through formal and on the job training. The book was an easy and pleasant read which helped reinforce the basics for me.
