Meike 85mm f1.8 Wide Aperture Full Frame Auto Focus Telephoto Lens for Nikon F Mount DSLR Camera and Compatible with Nikon APS-C Cameras D610 D750 D780 D810

Was looking to purchase a wider aperture lens for my Nikon D5200 camera to get better shots for basketball in dark gymnasiums. I didn't want to break the bank as I have a variety of other upgrades I'm needing to make, so this seemed like a reasonable option to hold me over until I could afford a zoom capable wide aperture lens.I was very happy with the pictures I got using this lens. The lens was responsive and did a pretty good job auto-focusing even during a fast paced basketball game. That said, as others noted in their reviews, the auto focus is very loud. This wasn't an issue for me in a noisy gymnasium, but could definitely pose an issue for someone who is shooting an event that has less ambient noise.

Before buying it I read the reviews saying that the autofocus is noisy, but wasn't that bothered because I thought it wasn't a big issue.But it REALLY IS noisy! I wouldn't recommend it for silent events because it's going to catch the attention of everyone around you!Anyway, the image quality is very good for the price paid, a bit of chromatic aberration in the out of focus parts when the aperture is 1.8, while it disappears as soon as you close a bit the diaphragm.Definitely a good quality-price bargain!

It's a very good lens. A little soft when at f1.8 but works well. If you are shooting at f1.8, I would use a tripod on mono pod. Lens does make some noise when focusing but not to bad. I got use to it and now I'm use to it. When using the higher f stops, very sharp, even if it's F 2.2 or above

Amazing lense for the price! The first photo is this lense and the second is the standard lense that comes on the Nikon D5300. The background blur and depth of field are crazy awesome. The auto focus works pretty well. The only thing you should be aware of is that with an 85mm lense like this one, you have to be pretty far away from your subject to get the shot. So indoor photos are sometimes out of the question. However, that’s not a downside of this lense.. just the focal length in general. Overall, this is a perfect lense for beginner/intermediate photography that won’t break the budget!

The Meike 85mm f1.8 lens has added an additional dimension to my photography. For its price, the lens is sharp and lightweight. Yes, the autofocus can be a little loud but I use my camera’s back button to mitigate most of the noise which by the way is not that distracting. With the wide aperture, the camera gets plenty of light. I’ve used it in a dimly lit room with flash and it rendered colors well. I’m satisfied with its performance and will use it appropriately. I feel it is a good buy especially for hobbiest who don’t want to spend an arm or leg for famous brand name lenses. I will consider Meike for my next lens purchase because the quality of this lens is very good to excellent.

Still testing it out… after a couple of months I have only see glares on about 10 pics out of a couple hundred taken. I believe it is a very good lens for the price, but I wouldn’t buy it again… next time I’ll get a refurbished or used Nikkor

Not a pro but in my opinion this lens is awesome. I read the reviews and some complain about the noise, no biggie. Compared to a kit lens, forget it. This lens is incredible if you can read your (body manual) instructions for manual mode. Shots are clear and low light is no problem. No flash needed. Way more better!!! Try it, you’ll be stoked.

I had high hopes for this lens but it wasn’t meant to be. Honestly, this is better than I thought it would be at this price point. With that being said, the negatives are plenty. Could not get this to focus correctly as it alternates focus behind and in front of the subject. This problem repeated itself across three different camera bodies. The lens coating was also a bit strange as colors seemed very muted. The lens also suffers from a lack of contrast which also makes for a “smeared” looking image. Another frustration came from the lens thread and attempting to attach a UV filter. The lens thread was off which prevented my filter from ever securely attaching to it. Also, the lens hood was a pain as it seemed to become cross threaded and get stuck. Again, I really wanted to love this lens at this price point but image quality is the top priority and this just didn’t cut it. I would never be able to show any of the images from this lens to a client. I want to end this review on a positive note and not trash this product too badly. If you are a casual shooter with little disposable income, this is your lens. If image quality is not paramount, don’t hesitate, buy this now. Same day I purchased this lens, I bought a Yongnuo 35mm and I love it for its kitschiness. Price is not necessarily indicative of quality.
