My first thoughts
Just got this little amp today, so I didn’t really have time to play with it. I used Lepai before so I can do a small comparison.Disclaimer first: I am not an audiophile, I’m just listening to the music sometimes. I did pay full price for the amp. I’m using it with a pair of Pioneer SP-BS22 AJ bookshelves. I’m using my TV or my iPhone/iPad or my FiiO X3ii media player as a source. So here is my first impression:Pros:The sound is good. I guess there is not much difference between this one and Lepai. They use the same 3116 chip.Compact size. It is really small.Super simple - one control is all it has.Nice finish and look. Much better then the ugly Lepai. And the Douk has rubber feet too.One of the main reasons I switched: it comes with a very decent power supply. It is 19v 4.74A so it has enough power to be very loud! For comparison, Lepai comes with a 12v 3a power Supply.Bluetooth. This is the very main reason for switch. Mostly I use the amp with my TV, but sometimes I want the convenience to connect my phone with Bluetooth for ambient sound. It does not have tone controls. It is a pro for me, because I don’t want tone controls. It makes the circuit simpler and I never use them anyway. You may count this one as con - then just get the G3 model with tone controls.Support staff was actually very nice and helpful when I asked some questions before purchasing the amp.Now Cons:Bluetooth audio quality is substantially worse then wired. Even I can easily hear it. I guess that is something one can expect. No AptX support. Not a dealbreaker for me since I’m using Apple devices and they don’t support AptX anyway. They list AAC somewhere, but I don’t know it it is true and I don’t know how to check.A weird thing: you can not turn Bluetooth off. If you connect a BT device, the amp will play from the device even if the line is connected. And the BT connection is always active. So you have to disconnect all devices manually from BT to play from the line. Could be tricky if you use multiple devices. What is bugging me even more - what if you keep the device on and your neighbor or someone else gets connected to the BT and will play whatever he/she wants? There is no password or anything. I hope that is not going to happen though. Also, I would prefer a power switch so that I can turn the amp on/off without turning the knob. Not a big deal for me though.Overall this is a good device and it does everything it says it does. I recommend looking at it if you need something like it. Just understand the limitations. I’m giving it 5 stars for now mostly because the amp goes all I want from it.

I nice little amplifier !
I got this amplifier to replace a Sony Dolby Pro Logic receiver that a co-worker gave me with a complete system he no longer wanted. I have two nice Sony 2-way front channel speakers, as well as the passive subwoofer that came with the system. Upon connecting the system, I started doing what everyone does..... going through the music collection to test the sound. VCMG, The Digital Blonde, Ghost, and Tame Impala to start with. The sound output is quite impressive with the included power adapter. So, then I played Bruce Hornsby, XTC, Lorde.... and so on. The sound is clean. The last stereo receiver that I owned, and thought sounded good was a JVC RX-308 back in the mid nineties that was connected to KLH 15" 4 way speakers ( PR 950 ? ). Those were not reference or high end systems by any stretch. Since then I have mostly used sound bars like the Nakamichi NK-1B, and the Lepai Tripath mini amp through Jensen 6.5 inch tower speakers. I can truly say, that this amp has clean output. The bluetooth is easy to use, really easy to connect and disconnect. I just put the amp at 50% and keep it there. The other functions, such as equalizer, etc... I use the PC or Phone to adjust. Mind you, this is connected to 8 ohm loudspeakers ( clean Sony's ). While I have had Sansui, Teac, JVC, and Pioneer amps and receivers, as well as countless components such as CD players of the same brands. I really haven't had any that sound any better than this inexpensive amplifier. I use almost exclusively MP3 320 files, although I have some WAV and FLAC files, so I have not done high bit rate / size music yet. I am truly blessed to live in these times, and see what people with imaginations and talent can bring to market! With lower impedance speakers than mine, this amp would have even more headroom. This is day one, and I will see how robust and reliable this amp is in the coming weeks.

Works great, but not digging the lack of configurability
This device connects to a pair of bookshelf speakers. I use an 1/8" auxillary input either from a more complicated system, or from my desktop, or Macbook. It works awesomely. What I'm not crazy about is the way it suddenly "stops working" by prioritizing the Bluetooth connection whenever a device is in range that has previously connected to it. It's absurd that a Macbook in sleep mode can disrupt my audio system. It's annoying to go into "Settings" for all these devices and disable pairing. Why not just give the 1/8" priority? Why not provide a switch or setting to give it priority? Why not at least a button to reset the memory of the device?Fortunately, if you stick to analog-only, though, these problems don't occur. And the device also emits a clicking sound when it switches to Bluetooth, which I found helpful for debugging problems in my sound setup (turn the device on and see if it clicks).

Good of its kind
This amplifier functions perfectly. The compact size is nice. This small black amplifier goes almost unnoticed on top of the black bookshelf speaker. It's nice having an amplifier that requires so little space. The build quality is excellent. It does not seem cheap at all. I'm happy with this purchase.I like it that the volume control and power on/off are the same control. With all amplifiers, I always turn the volume all the way down before powering off.The sound quality is good enough. The bookshelf speakers I'm using are excellent -- Boston Acoustics CR7 with 6.5 inch woofers -- so that's no problem. But the amplifier I want costs $300 more than this one.I've had no trouble with the Bluetooth connection so far. I'll be using mostly the AUX input. I wish there were a Bluetooth on/off switch so I could be sure it wasn't trying to connect to sources, including those belonging to neighbors.
