If you need to open a door or a padlock, you're going to have a difficult time with these tools. I've used lock pick tools when I was younger on practice locks and when I locked myself out of my house. I purchased these because I had a padlock on my suitcase that I lost the key for and wanted a cheap solution to the problem that wouldn't damage the lock - it was engraved. After hours of messing around with these tools, I was nowhere closer. The tools are flimsy and don't have decent grips. I guess they would be good for easier practice locks though.

Good to demonstrate how picks work and if you find a big padlock with lots of keyway room these are cheap tools you could let a child learn to pick using them. But they are not very good actually. Real picks are far superior.
